KlasJet, an ACMI, private jet and charter provider, and part of the world’s largest ACMI provider, Avia Solutions Group, has received Part 129 Operations Specifications (OpSpecs) approval from the FAA. With Department of Transport (DOT) and other relevant approvals already in place, receiving FAA approval opens the US market to KlasJet for charter and ACMI operations within the scope of its approved OpSpecs and DOT conditions, including approval for its Boeing 737NG fleet.

The OpSpecs approval applies to foreign air carrier flights to and from the USA, or through US territory, and confirms that KlasJet meets strict FAA safety and operational requirements.

“KlasJet is now ready to operate to and from the US. FAA approval was the final step needed to deploy our approved aircraft for charter and ACMI operations involving the United States and surrounding regions. We have FAA, DOT, TSA, CBP, and other relevant approvals in place, which means we are fully set up to start commercial operations,” says Diako Rad, Director Flight Operations at KlasJet.

KlasJet’s FAA approval covers its Boeing 737NG fleet. This means the ACMI provider can use its well-developed operating model and existing fleet to support carriers in the US market.

According to Rad, KlasJet sees strong potential in the US market for its ACMI and charter services. “Achieving FAA approval has required a significant amount of work behind the scenes, and we undertook this effort because we have already seen significant interest connected to the US, both from existing relationships and the wider market. North and South America is one of the largest aviation markets in the world, with huge seasonal variations in demand and constant movement in available capacity,” he comments.

Previously, when a carrier asked whether we could operate in the US, the answer was that we were working towards it. Today, the answer is yes. And this change is very important in ACMI and charter operations, because situations can move very quickly. Customers normally need additional aircraft capacity immediately, so now we can have those conversations knowing that we are ready to deliver.”

In terms of where KlasJet will fit into the US market, Rad stresses that its ACMI and charter offering is well suited to managing seasonal peaks, capacity shortages, aircraft availability issues, and operational disruptions.

“We are offering flexible aircraft capacity that can be deployed when and where it is needed. Airlines can suddenly find themselves short of capacity because of seasonal demand, maintenance, delayed aircraft deliveries, operational disruptions or simply because their network is growing faster than their fleet. Instead of adding permanent aircraft and crews for what might be a temporary requirement, ACMI gives them immediate additional capacity. We bring the aircraft, crews, maintenance and insurance and integrate that capacity into their operations,” Rad explains.
